Oct 21-22 – Frontier Week

“YEEHAW!” get ready to saddle up in your best frontier garb (cowboy, cowgirl, pioneer, seriously dress-up)! You won’t die of dysentery, a snake bite, or a ricocheting bullet (as a certain video game popular in the 90s would have you believe), but you’ll still get a taste of what the frontier was like in Indiana.

This Harvest Festival: Frontier Week, you can also give others a taste of the frontier (canned beans, chili, corn, etc) with our Let’s Can Hunger Program. Simply bring 2 canned goods of your choice to donate, and in exchange, you will receive $10 admission for 1 to the festival activities.

Past the gates and into the corral, you’ll be able to visit with rustic vendors including a blacksmiths. Over at our “Wanted” Sign photo booth and Stockades, everyone can experience the wilder side of pioneer life.

In Adventure Acres the kids can learn about the pioneer way of life and see if they have what it takes to make it on the frontier. They can try their hand at cattle roping with our roping dummies and their marksmanship at our axe (plunger) throwing stations. Don’t forget to visit all the “historic” family favorites of Adventure Acres, including the tube slide, Mega Slide ($), Pig Races, jumping pillows, pedal cars and barrel train. Ride our tractor pulled wagon out to wander the corn maze, pick a pumpkin or some apples, and maybe even test your aim at the Apple Cannon Range ($).

All good frontier tales end with riding off into the sunset, and this year we’re partnering with Tangram to offer free pony rides (included with admission, Sat the 21st only from 9am until our hoofed friends are tuckered out)

Now, vamoose, ya varmints and ya’ll come back now!
